A National Weather Service Assessment Team has confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes touched down just after 8pm Wednesday night in southern Boone County.
One was on the ground for six miles, while the other was on the ground for nearly two miles.
The first tornado touched down at around 8:15pm about 2 miles southeast of Cherry Valley, crossing Irene Road north of Bates Rd. and heading eastward just north of Bates Rd. until it dissipated at Pearl Street Rd.
The second EF-1 tornado touched down near the intersection of Genoa and Bates Rd. at around 8:23pm and was on the ground for about two minutes.
Both tornadoes has maximum winds of about 100 miles per hour, and caused structure and tree damage, but no reports of any injuries or deaths.
