Two DeKalb County inmates have been charged after overdosing on heroin inside the jail earlier this month. A Rockford man is also wanted for allegedly supplying the drugs.

On October 1, Angelica Sanders, 29, and Nicole Senatre, 33, ingested the heroin which was smuggled into the jail in hygiene products. Both suffered medical episodes as a result. Sanders was revived while still inside the jail with the use of Narcan. Both women were hospitalized and survived.

Police later learned that the heroin was laced with Fentanyl.

Sanders and Senatre have been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

DeKalb County Sheriff’s investigators with the assistance of Rockford Police determined that Anthony M. Murphy, 32, of Rockford, was the original source of the heroin. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for drug induced infliction of great bodily harm and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

Murphy remains at large.
