More fallout Friday over the canceled Donald Trump protest last week in Chicago.
The University of Illinois Chicago’s own police officers are blaming their chief for disregarding their safety. In a letter, they claimed they weren’t allowed to use pepper spray, leaving them with a baton and handgun. They were also ordered to leave their dark-colored gloves in their lockers because they looked “too aggressive.” Finally, they were told not to place their hands on anyone.
The school responded to the claims, saying the officers were authorized to use whatever force was necessary to control the situation and that there was no restriction on their equipment.
