Bridge work that has limited U.S. 20 bypass traffic to one-lane in each direction over the Rock River will be finished by next weekend an IDOT spokesperson says.
The opening will happen in stages.
Both lanes on the bridges carrying westbound traffic will be open on Tuesday.
The structures carrying eastbound traffic will remain restricted to one lane to allow for completion of guardrail and painting on the eastbound lanes, but weather permitting, all work will be completed and all eastbound lanes open by next Saturday.
The project cost $20.8 million project.
The two eastbound US 20 bridges were replaced during the 2014 construction season and the two westbound bridges were replaced during 2015.
