University of Illinois Researchers Upset at Proposed Beagle Freedom Bill

Some University of Illinois researchers are upset with a bill that would put research animals up for adoption after the school is done with them.

The goal of the bill is to prevent animals from being automatically euthanized when labs are done testing on them.  A U of I spokesperson says their labs already do this and have adoption procedures in place.

However, bill sponsors argue that the measure is to regulate adoption options all testing facilities.
