UPDATE (5:32 p.m.): Through a collaborative effort by police, the Beloit School District and the community, authorities arrested a 16-year-old male for the shooting. They also arrested three other juveniles males, a 17, 16 and 15-year-old.
The victim, a 14-year-old male, suffered a single non-life threatening injury and was transported to Mercy hospital.
The School District of Beloit and the Beloit Police Department initiated coordinated efforts to ensure the safety of the students and community.
A teenager is hospitalized and Beloit Memorial High School locked down following a shooting at a local fast food restaurant.
The shooting happened around 11:30 this morning outside the Taco John’s restaurant in the 140 block of Library Avenue in Beloit. Police say an argument among some people in the restaurant parking lot led to shots fired.
A teenage boy was shot and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A suspected shooter was taken into custody.
Beloit Memorial High School was locked down for a few hours; that lockdown has since been lifted.
