UPDATE (11/9/16): Police have announced the names and charges for suspects involved in a shooting at the Fairgrounds Housing Complex over the weekend.

Armando Benitez, 20, of Rockford, is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of weapons, possession of a criminally defaced firearm and no FOID card.

A 17-year-old juvenile male from Rockford was also arrested. He’s charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Two people are behind bars after a shooting at Rockford’s Fairgrounds Valley Housing Complex.

Police say they were responding to a call of two people walking around threatening residents with guns. That’s when officers heard gunshots and found a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old walking nearby. The 20-year-old was seen trying to get rid of a pistol — and both were taken into custody for questioning.

At least three homes were hit by gunfire, and a woman was injured after a bullet came through her wall and hit her in the leg. She is expected to be okay.

The incident is still under investigation.
