UPDATE: Arrests Made in Saturday Walgreens Shooting


UPDATE (4/25/16): Police have officially charged four men, after a shooting and hit-and-run crash on Saturday.

The following arrests have been made:

  • Deandre Lockhart, 19 – resisting a peace officer, driving while license revoked, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving injury, operating an uninsured vehicle, disobeying a traffic device.
  • Demetrius Shiver, 21 – resisting a peace officer.
  • Ricky Woods, 20 – resisting a peace officer.
  • Jamarkie Boose, 22 – resisting a peace officer, aggravated fleeing to elude, domestic battery.

The shooting victim’s injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.


One man is in the hospital and four men are in police custody after a shooting outside a Rockford Walgreens.

It happened Saturday evening, around 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the Walgreens in the 1200 block of E. State. Several shots were reported to be fired, and one male in his 20s was shot twice. The victim was taken to the hospital,with non-life threatening injuries.

A short time later, officers spotted a car with people believed to be involved in the shooting crashed near 20th street and Harrison. Police say four men from that car have been detained for questioning, but are not facing any charges

The incident is still under investigation.
