UPDATE: (1/12/17): After what the Winnebago County Coroner call a significant forensic examination, the victim of the car crash has been positively identified.
She is 36-year-old Amy Feliciano of Rockford.
UPDATE (1/2/17) – Due to the extent of the damage from the crash, the Winnebago County Coroner said the victim’s identity hasn’t been determined yet.
Police say a Winnebago County deputy arrived to the scene to find a car fully engulfed in flames. Preliminary findings show the car was traveling west bound on Guilford when it crossed through the intersection at North Alpine and hit a traffic control signal and a brick retaining wall. It then rolled onto its side.
After the fire was extinguished, the lone occupant of the vehicle was found dead.
The name of the victim is not being released until the family can be notified.
There was a fatal car accident at North Alpine Road and Guilford.
The Winnebago County Coroner has confirmed that one person is dead following this serious single-car crash in Rockford. It happened just after 4:30 a.m. this morning at North Alpine Road and Guilford. Police say to avoid the area for the next several hours.
