UPDATE: Off-Duty Rockford Officer Will Not Face Charges

UPDATE (12/17/15): Loves Park Police say a Rockford officer taken into custody Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence will not face charges.

Officers and detectives conducted an investigation into the incident. The case was reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and no charges were authorized.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released if developed.

Loves Park Police have taken into custody an off-duty Rockford officer following a domestic violence incident this morning.

It happened around 8 a.m. in the 1800 block of Theodore Street. Authorities received a call from a woman who said she had been cut by the officer; the two were reportedly in a relationship.

The Rockford officer was taken into custody a short time later in Rockton. He has not been officially arrested, but charges are expected.

No names have been released.
