Investigators say three men were shot just before 2 p.m. on Saturday on South Lincoln Street and Center Street, one block south of Shirland Avenue.
South Beloit Police say the victims were shot by two men around the age of 18. Investigators believe the five men had a dispute when shots rang out. The suspects then fled in a red car. Police say witnesses identified the suspects and the victims were the intended target.
A shooting victim, 22 has died from a gunshot to the head. Police say the two other victims are listed in critical condition. The second shooting victim, 21, was found in the driveway with a gunshot would to his leg and abdomen. The third shooting victim, 19, was found in the rear of the 133 S Lincoln Street home with a gunshot would to his upper chest. Both men are listed as critical condition.
Police say an off-duty South Beloit Police Officer heard gun-shots from his home and responded calling first responders to the 100 S Lincoln Street area.
Witnesses provided the names of the man who shot the three and the man who accompanied the suspected gunman.
Around 3:30 p.m. two suspects went into the South Beloit Police Department asking to speak with officers. Those suspects were then sent to the Winnebago County Sheriffs Department for questioning.
The Winnebago County Sheriffs Department is investigating. Charges are pending and will be released once interviews are completed.
