UPDATE (11am): Power has been restored to both the Discovery Center and Rockford Art Museum. The Rockford Human Services Office also now has power, as does much of downtown Rockford.
However, ComEd is still estimated power to a small number of downtown customers until 2pm. The number of those without power in the Stateline area according to ComEd is now less than 500.
Overnight storms have caused many to be without power Wednesday morning.
Among those impacted, the City of Rockford’s Human Services offices and the Loves Park Police Department are both without power or phone service. Summer school at Rockford Public School District 205’s Roosevelt High School is also canceled today due to no power.
Lifescape Community Service’s ‘Meals on Wheels’ program will be delayed and the Discovery Center is also without power or phone service. The Rockford Art Museum is closed for the day Wednesday.
The City of Rockford is telling motorists to use caution when driving on the northwest side due to traffic signals being out.
According to ComEd, as of 8:30 a.m., about 2,400 customers were without power.
ComEd says crews are out working to restore power throughout Rockford; no timetable has been given.
