The Janesville Police Department had issued a warning to parents after four schoolgirls were approached by a stranger Monday morning.
Police say the four elementary students were walking near W. State Street and S. Oakhill Avenue on their way to Van Buren School when a man in a passing vehicle stopped and asked them if they needed a ride to school.
The girls said they ran to an adult crossing guard, who reported the incident to authorities.
A man who is a parent of a Van Buren child came forward to the police after seeing notification of the incident and admitted he was offering the children a ride because of the weather.
Police say all parties involved, including the school, were notified.
