UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting of Cliffbreakers Riverside Hotel

UPDATE: 34-year-old victim identified as Joshua Jamerson of Rockford.

A quiet scene at Cliffbreakers Sunday hides the deadly shooting incident inside early in the morning.
Responding officers getting more more calls of shots fired inside a hotel hallway.
Officers arriving to find a 34-year-old man dead at the scene.

“At this point i don’t know if we confirmed that people were brought there afterwards or if they were people who had rented rooms or were guests, but it was 3:30 in the morning when we get calls from several disorderly subjects fighting,” said Assistant Deputy Chief Kevin Ogden.

Police also finding a 27-year-old black man who is in critical condition.
Two additional victims with gunshot wounds driving themselves to a local hospital.
The 27-year-old was out of surgery Sunday morning and is still in life-threatening condition.

“It’s very concerning anytime we have parties or celebrations that turns bad and quick and the first reaction is to bring out guns,” said Ogden.

But it’s not the first time there’s been a shooting there.
There was another in the parking lot in October.
Nearby Rockford resident Bryan Perez noticing a troubling trend.

“It’s already usual, it has been happening, every other month or every other week there’s a crime going on in Rockford,” said Perez.

It also follows a deadly shooting inside the Clocktower Hotel.
It’s something Fifth Ward Alderwoman Venita Hervey says goes back to pop up nightclubs; private parties with admission charged that can turn violent.

“We would have the nightclubs, we would have the bars and places if people respected the venue and the rules of socialization,” said Hervey.

Rockford Police are investigating a shooting at Cliffbreakers Riverside Hotel that has left one dead and three injured.

Police responded to a call of shots fired at 3:30am last night, when they discovered a large group of people. 

Authorities say that the three injured were able to drive themselves to Rockford Memorial hospital and one is in critical condition.

The coroner’s office says the fourth was a 34-year-old male.

No arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.
