Rockford school officials say an electrical system designed to keep bus engines warm in intense cold failed Tuesday morning, leaving more than a third of the district’s buses unable to start.
They say the staff tried for several hours to get buses started this morning to no avail. The extreme cold combined with a three-day holiday weekend likely did not help matters.
Because of the unexpected problem, the notification of closures was delayed.
Officials say the electrical system for our buses will be repaired.
Rockford Public Schools announced this morning that all classes will be canceled for District 205. The cancelation comes after buses would not start Tuesday morning. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available regarding after school activities.
