UPDATED: Village of Caledonia evacuated due to gas leak at grainery

UPDATE: Per the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the gas leak has been contained and residents are able to return to their homes.

EARLIER: The Village of Caledonia has been evacuated due to a gas leak at a grain elevator.

Boone County Sheriff David Ernest said a construction crew struck a high pressure gas line around 1 p.m on Tuesday. No injuries have been reported.

Route 173 has been shut down at Caledonia Road and Wyman School Road. The District 3 Fire Station in Poplar Grove is open to residents.
