US Cellular employees help clean up baseball field for boys and girls club

News

A Rockford boys and girls’ club gets a little help from local volunteers to kick off baseball season.

About a dozen employees from local US Cellular stores cleaned up the Flodin Boys and Girls’ Club baseball field on Lyford Road, removing old benches and doing some field maintenance.

It’s the fourth year that US Cellular employees have cleaned up baseball fields in the stateline area. For them, it’s all about the kids.

“It’s a lot of fun again, to be out in the local community, helping out,” said Ryan Wolf, a store manager for US Cellular. “The biggest thing is when you see smiles on the kids’ faces when they’re out here playing ball.”

In addition to the cleanup, the company donated $5,000 to the Flodin Boys and Girls Club.
