Vets offer tips for pets with fireworks anxiety

It’s almost Independence Day an Illinois veterinarians are warning people to keep an eye on their pets during the fireworks.

While humans may enjoy fireworks, pets may suffer anxiety from the loud noise.

Veterinarian Dr. Collins says owners should keep pets indoors and give them white noise, a TV or radio, during the show.

If you’re a new pet owner, there are ways to recognize signs of anxiety.

“I would encourage making sure that your pet is on a leash, and that you don’t leave the screen doors open,” Dr. Collins suggests.

Dr. Collins says that if owners decide to bring a dog to the festivities, make sure they are content with big crowds and loud noises.
