Violent crime down across Rockford

Rockford, Ill. – The City of Rockford is releasing the police departments year to date numbers on crime.  From January to November of 2018 violent crime, robbery, aggravated assault and aggravated battery shots fired are all down compared to the year before.  Auto thefts and property crimes did go up from 2017.

Here’s a look at the numbers:

Violent Crimes:  Down 11%

2017 – 2,233

2018 – 1,978

Robbery:  Down 15%

2017 – 377

2018 – 321

Aggravated Assault:  Down 11%

2017 – 1,636

2018 – 1,455

Aggravated Batter Shots Fired:  Down 19%

2017 – 557

2018 – 449

Auto Thefts:  Up 7%

2017 – 397

2018 – 423

Property Crimes: Up 4%

2017 – 4489

2018 – 5079
