Almost two dozen give up their Saturday morning to help out a Rockford non-for profit.
Almost 20 volunteers came out to Klehm Arboretum helping pull weeds from their new Contemporary Perennial Garden. The garden is in its second year and officials say it will be weed free after three years, but say their grateful for those who gave up their time to help today.
“Anybody that gardens knows that gardens are very labor intensive and we depend on and rely on a lot of volunteer help to keep us looking very good through the season,” Klhem executive director Dan Riggs said of the volunteers Saturday.
The garden consists of 4,000 plants spanning 40 species.
