Week two of May also marks the second straight week of declining gas prices in Rockford.
Since this time last week, Rockford’s average rate dropped 5.6¢. That compares to a national rate of $2.34 per gallon. Prices on Saturday locally were still 8.4¢ higher than on the same day one year ago, but 13.3¢ cheaper than this time last month.
According to GasBuddy, the highest rate in Rockford over the past five years for the second week of May was back in 2013 when it was $3.78 per gallon.
