Average retail gasoline locally has dropped 2.4¢ per gallon in the past week, totaling $2.21 on Sunday.
That’s nearly a dime cheaper than the national average, which is $2.28 per gallon. As a state, Illinois is averaging $2.30 per gallon.
Rockford’s rate is still more than 20¢ higher than on the same day a year ago. But, compared to the same day five years ago, we’re nearly $2 per gallon less expensive.
