ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – A new interim county administrator is approved by the Winnebago County Board.
Steve Chapman received a unanimous vote Thursday.
The Personnel and Policies Committee voted to appoint him for the position Wednesday night.
As the interim administrator, Chapman is only allowed to work up to 600 hours before the role is officially filled.
“In the very short time I worked with him I liked him, the concern is at a time when the county board has made so many ordinance changes to the position of chairman, that also having a diminished a county board administrator position just because of the availability of hours”, said Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney.
Chapman retired from the job a few years ago.
