ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney heads to court in an attempt to regain some of the power he’s lost since being elected.
Haney wants a judge to allow his personal attorney to represent him in his lawsuit against the Board.
Haney believes Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross has a conflict of interest in the case because she represents the board members.
Haney says the County Board has diminished his powers, violated his rights, and says the Board is working against the voters who elected him into office.
If the judge doesn’t approve his request, Haney says he could sue the County Board.
The sides will be in court again on June 19th.
