Winnebago County Correctional Officers’ “Teddy Bear Drive” a Success

Winnebago County correctional officers successfully helped bring the holidays to many children facing difficult circumstances this Christmas season.

Through their 2nd annual Teddy Bear Drive, officers collected 1,770 new teddy bears from the community. Those bears were then delivered to children hospitalized or in other difficult situations over the holidays at the following facilities:

  • Rockford MELD
  • Rockford PD domestic violence unit
  • Carrie Lynn Children’s Center
  • Rocvale Children’s Home
  • Mother’s House
  • Crusader Clinic
  • Rockford Women’s Crisis Center
  • OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center
  • Shelter Care Ministries
  • MercyHealth Hospital
  • Goldie Floberg Center
  • SwedishAmerican Health System
  • Remedies of Rockford
  • Elmwood Heights
  • Maya’s House
  • The Arc

So far, officers have given out 1,122 Bears. They will continue to make more deliveries until all of the bears are handed out.
