A Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was shot in the line of duty last year, returned to work Wednesday.
Deputy Stephen Wright was shot three times buy a suspect during a traffic stop in September.
Wright underwent several surgeries and spent months in recovery. He also got married, just a couple of months after the shooting.
Sheriff Gary Caruana says his department will make sure Wright is eased back into the job after such a traumatic experience.
“This week, he’s down in training. Then, he’ll start riding with somebody and getting the feel back, for the street. And then, he’ll be alone again. His attitude is real good, and I’m thrilled. And, I think the rest of the department is thrilled to have him back,” Caruana said.
The alleged shooting suspect, Jordan Spates, pled Not Guilty to four counts of attempted murder.
