The Winnebago Education Association announced that they plan to strike starting September 10th, unless a deal can be reached with the Board of Education before then.
“A strike is the last thing any of us wants. We’d much rather be in our classrooms working with the students we know and love,” WEA President Sarah Meador said. “It’s unfortunate negotiations with the district have come to this. We’re still hopeful we can reach an agreement and not go on strike.”
The Winnebago Education Association has been working without a contract with the school board since the previous contract expired at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
In January of 2018, a federal mediator was called into the negotiations.
