The Boone County Sheriff has arrested a woman in connection to the death of bicyclist James Day in September of 2017.

Victoria Swanson, 27, of Belvidere, was arrested on March 27 and charged with Reckless Homicide in the death of Day, 53.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on September 20th, 2017, police allege that Swanson was driving the Dodge Ram that collided with Day’s bicycle on Squaw Prairie Road, between Rt. 76 and Poplar Grove Road.

The arrest came after a long investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. A Grand Jury indicted Swanson on March 19th.

Swanson was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $10,000 (10%) bond.

If found guilty, Swanson could face two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
