Rockford firefighters say the extreme cold made fighting a house fire Monday morning extra difficult.
Crews responded to 711 21st Avenue just after 5am. They found a woman lying outside suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Fire officials say it took them about 10 minutes to get the fire under control. The fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damages. No word yet on what sparked it.
