A woman stabbed a K9 officer in both eyes when police served a felony drug warrant at her trailer Monday afternoon.
According to the Star-Telegram, police found two people standing outside the trailer who said Abigail Martinez, 23, was inside. When she refused commands to enter the trailer, officers found the front door unlocked and entered the trailer.
Police say they found 40-year-old Felipe Martinez laying on the couch inside. Martinez complied with the officers to exit the vehicle and at once point attempted to convince his niece, who hid in a back room of the trailer, to comply.
A K-9 officer was brought on the scene and located Ms. Martinez hiding under several blankets and pillows, and at that point she jabbed the K-9 with a hard plastic handle eyebrow brush.
She was then taken into custody.
The K-9’s handler, Cpl. Jeremy Stevens, noticed puncture wounds underneath both eyes. “X”, the K-9 officer, was treated by a local vet and returned to duty.
Both Stevens, an 18-year veteran of the Baytown Police Department and “X” were named the “Top Patrol Dog Team” at a training competition in Alabama in February.
