The YMCA of Rock River Valley is offering free swim lessons to teenagers in May.

The free lessons are part of National Water Safety Month. According to a press release, as the Y was recruiting for new lifeguards, they received feedback that many teens couldn’t apply because they didn’t know how to swim. The Y is encouraging teens to take advantage of this free opportunity to increase their safety and introduce a new healthy activity into their lifestyle.

The classes will be held Fridays, May 18th and 25th at 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. at the SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA at 200 Y Boulevard in Rockford.
