YMCA offering free swim lessons to teens

The YMCA of Rock River Valley is offering free swim lessons to teenagers in May.

The free lessons are part of National Water Safety Month. According to a press release, as the Y was recruiting for new lifeguards, they received feedback that many teens couldn’t apply because they didn’t know how to swim. The Y is encouraging teens to take advantage of this free opportunity to increase their safety and introduce a new healthy activity into their lifestyle.

The classes will be held Fridays, May 18th and 25th at 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. at the SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA at 200 Y Boulevard in Rockford.
