The Bears wasted no time making their mark in free agency. On the very first day the team signed Linebacker Danny Trevathan and Right Tackle Bobby Massie. Both players decision to come to the bears were influenced by two current Bears. Head Coach John Fox Coached Trevathan in Denver, and Trevathan jumped at the opportunity to reunite with Fox
“He use to make funny quotes, funny sayings,” says Trevathan. “I take rule book its says you can be great. You know stuff like that just stuck with me. You know I always respected him and he was always in my ear saying Danny no matter where you come from you can go places man.”
Former Cardinals Tackle Bobby Massie was persuaded by Bears player and close friend Kyle Long. Massie claims Long had been recruiting him for weeks.

“We’ve been talking about that the past two weeks,” says Massie. “So he’s been in my ear trying to get me to come to Chicago, and recruiting me and things. Once I finally gave him notice that I was coming here you know he was screaming and shouting on the phone. You know he was real happy to hear that.”
It might have been a cloudy day in Chicago on Thursday, but the future is definitely brighter for the Bears. Not only were John Fox’s and Kyle Long’s relationships with both of these guys crucial, but also the strides the team made a season ago. They believe the team is headed in the right direction.
“I see a lot of attitude,” says Trevathan. “I see a lot of hustle, and I see a lot of ambition in these guys and that’s stuff you can work with.”
“I mean winning is contagious,” says Massie. “You know once you start winning you don’t want to back to losing. So all we need is a little taste here man we got to get back to the top.”
The team also resigned Cornerback Tracy Porter, Running Back Jacquizz Rodgers, and Tackle Nick Benton.
