Bears Receiver Plagued By Injuries

Coming into 2015 the Bears looked to have a promising receiving corp. With the return of Alshon Jeffery the Bears added talent through free agency and the draft. But the position has been plagued by injury to point where all coach John Fox can do is laugh.

“You know we haven’t been able to keep our same wide receiver group together for some time” says Bears Head Coach John Fox.

Three of the Bears biggest contributors at the position have missed a combined 12 games this season. That doesn’t even include first round draft pick Kevin White who’s missed all 12 games with a leg injury.

One of the banged up receivers has been Eddie Royal. He’s missed the last five games with a knee injury. He says siting from the sidelines has not been easy.

“I mean the games that I’ve missed I wanted to be out there,” says Bears Receiver Eddie Royal. “But you kind of have to do what your body lets you, and I’m pushing it to try to do what I can we’ll see what happens on Sunday.”

Royal isn’t the only receiver the Bears could have suiting up in the near future. Rookie Kevin White is also back on the practice field and the team has a week to decide whether to add him to the active roster and shut him down the remainder of the season.

“I’m just feeling better,” says Bears Receiver Kevin White. “The more time I get, the more confident I am the stronger it will get. I feel like I can get out there and contribute whatever they want me to. So when my number is called I’ll go out there and do what I have to do.”

Right now the Bears rank 20th in passing offense. But with a healthy group of pass catches this could look very different.

“I don’t know what we could be,” says Royal. “But I think we could be  a really good group just with the way we’ve handled it and the way we can work together.”
