Week 14 brings in the NFC East leading Washington Redskins. With a 5-7 record the Washington is lead by quarterback Kirk Cousins who’s completing almost 70 percent of his passes.
“He’s run’s their offense extremely well,” says Bears Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio. “He’s a good reader of coverage. Knows where to go with the ball and does a good job with their boot game.”
Washington’s biggest weapon is Desean Jackson. Not only is he one the league’s best deep threats, he’s also a dangerous kick returner.
“You know the guy’s extremely fast,” says Fangio. “Unlike a lot of guys that are extremely fast he gets fast in a hurry. You know his first steps – he gets to a high gear quicker than anybody.”
“You can go a long ways, and there’s a lot of big plays with Desean Jackson as a punt returner,” says Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Rodgers. “He’s an explosive guy. He’s been in big spots, big moments. The one everyone remembers is the one against the Giants where he house calls it. You get plenty of respect from special teams coaches. We all remember those types of plays.”
They also have a talented tight end in Jordan Reed. He leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches.
“He’s an athletic guy,” says Bears Head Coach John Fox. “He’s a good route runner. Kirk seems to have a comfort level with him.”
“He’s very nifty as far as tight ends go,” says Fangio. “He’s got a really goo feel for running good routes, and for where a defender is on him. So you got to mix up your techniques on him. You know they’re an impressive group on offense.”
The game will kick-off this Sunday at 1pm Eastern/12pm Central on Fox.
