The Bears’ preseason opener Thursday night started off bad and it never got better. They lost to the Broncos 22-0.

It was a game that saw the Bears have a punt blocked for a touchdown. They gave up a safety, and they surrendered seven sacks.

One of the few bright spots was an interception by linebacker Jerrell Freeman.

Mark Sanchez set the tone early. The Broncos quarterback threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas with 9:32 to play in the first quarter. Sanchez completed 10 of 13 passes for 99 yards.

Jay Cutler completed three of four passing attempts for 18 yards. He was sacked twice. His backup Brian Hoyer completed 7 of 10 passes. He was intercepted once.

Jeremy Langford carried four times for only seven yards. And Kevin White’s preseason debut was a quiet one. He had one reception for three yards.

The Bears next preseason game will be Thursday, August 18th at New England.
