The Bears made the offensive line a priority during the off-season. One of the ways they addressed that was through the draft.
The Bears selected guard Cody Whitehair out of Kansas State in the second round. It’s always a difficult transition for the offensive lineman, but Kyle Long likes what he sees from the rookie.
“He’s smart. He’s making progress everyday,” says Long. “He’s somebody who wants to know how to do it, and you see him working hard and that’s half the battle.”
With Long entering just his fourth year, the Bears have the opportunity of not worrying about the guard position for quite some time if Whitehair produces like the team hopes.
