A month after being named the boys head basketball coach at Forreston Shane Bautch has resigned and former head coach Jonathan Schneiderman has been named his replacement.
Bautch is a former head coach at Rockford Christian who guided the Royal Lions to a third place finish at State in Class 2A in the 2010-11 season. No reason has been given for his resignation from Forreston. A press release from the Forrestville School District stated only that the resignation was “unexpected.”
Schneiderman’s name is synonyous with Forreston basketball. He was a star basketball player there before going on to play at UIC.
Schneiderman later was Forreston’s head basketball coach from 2005-2014. His Cardinals posted a 178-85 record during tha span. They won Regional Titles in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012 plus Sectional Titles in 2006 and 2011.
“We are excited and fortunate to have Mr. Schneiderman return to the coaching ranks at Forreston High School, ” said Forreston Assistant Principal/Athletic director Kyle Zick in a press release. “His character and integrity are exactly what we want in front of our young men on a daily basis.”
Superintendent Sher Smith added, “We are grateful Mr. Schneiderman is willing to step back into the head coaching role. We understand the time and sacrifices needed to run a quality program and we appreciate Mr. Schneiderman’s willingness, along with his family support to lead our young men once again.”
Schneiderman is also the Elementary Principal at Forreston Grade School and German Valley Grade School.
