Despite a report to the contrary new Guilford football coach Bruce Bazsali says he’s not holding down the job for just one season.
Bazsali tells Eyewitness News he’s committed to the program for the long haul.
“For as long as they want me I’ll be here,” says Bazsali. “So if it’s five years, ten years, whatever. I feel juiced up and I think I’ve got the Peter Pan Syndrome. I don’t think I’ll ever slow down.”
Bazsali will be entering his 50th season of coaching this summer. He resigned as the head coach at Rockford Lutheran last December after guiding the Crusaders to five straight playoff appearances. Monday he was named the new head coach at Guilford pending school board approval.
“He brings instant credibility (to Guilford),” says District 205 Athletic Director Mat Parker. “We think with the seniors his spread offense is going to be pretty amazing with those 26 kids coming back.”
Guilford won only one game in 2016. The Vikings have had losing records each of the last three seasons.
