ROCKFORD - Part one of the girls basketball rivalry between Hononegah and Boylan this season has gone to the Lady Titans. They defeated the Indians Thursday night 66-59 at Boylan.
The Titans led almost the entire game. Peyton Kennedy has them up by five at halftime after she poured in 17 points in the first half.
The Titans stretch their lead to 12 points in the second half after making three three-point shots in succession.
But Hononegah senior Jordan King put the Indians on her back at that point. She scored 22 of her 25 points in the second half with an array of jumpers and drives to pull Hononegah within five points. That was as close as the Indians would get though.
Kennedy finished with 28 points for Boylan. King's 25 points moved her ahead of Brea Edwards as the NIC-10's all-time scoring leader. She now has 2,147 points.
Boylan is now 18-0, 10-0. Hononegah is 17-4, 8-1.
The rematch will be held at Hononegah on February 5th.
