Forreston rumbles past AFC in regional baseball action

The Forreston Cardinals did most of their damage late in a 12-2 win over Ashton-Franklin Center Wednesday in Class 1A regional baseball action at Forreston.

The Cardinals broke open a 1-1 tie by scoring four times in the bottom of the fourth inning and seven times in the bottom of the fifth when the ten-run rule was invoked.

Chase Greenfield had two hits and he drove in four runs for Forreston. Kilar Huenefeld drove in two runs. Hayden Singleypitched four innings. He allowed one unearned run on one hit.  He struck out seven batters.

Forreston advances to the Regional Championship game Saturday to play Amboy.
