Teams like to be peaking heading into the playoffs. That seems to describe the Rochelle Hubs.
They got into the postseason party after get a must-win last Friday night at Kaneland. But there wer also signs the previews two weeks when the Hubs lost on the final play to unbeaten Sterling and then they bounced back with a 42-7 win over Ottawa.
It was a slow start to the Hubs. They dropped their first two games to Marion High School and to Johnsburg, but they never doubted their ability.
“We’ve taken the long road to get here. There’s no doubt about that but there’s life in the journey,” says Hubs head coach Kyle Kissack. “We’ve certainly played a tough schedule. Our kids hung together.”
“We’ve been playing pretty good football these past two weeks and so going into the playoffs its like new life, so I think it’ll be pretty exciting and I think that you know the boys are ready,” says Hubs running back Eddie Villalobos.
The 5-4 Hubs will travel to 7-2 Sycamore Friday night for Class 5A playoff action.
“Well a great program Very disciplined and fundamentally sound. They’re really good on defense, play downhill on defense. They’ve got some really solid players there and offensively it is going to be like a good, old-fashioned football game. They’re going to be physical at hte point of attack and we are too.”
