Max Klein showed why he’s an NCAA Division I caliber pitcher Friday. He was dominant in Guilford’s 6-0 upset win over NIC-10 champion Rockford East.
Klein went the distance for the shutout. He struck out 14 batters with a fastball that often tops 90mph. Earlier in the week he signed a letter of intent with Indiana State.
Andrew Harris played a supporting role in Guilford’s win by launching a three run homer in the bottom of the first inning.
It was a tough opening draw for East having to face Klein. The E-Rabs had high hopes for the postseason after winning the NIC-10.
Guilford advances to a 10 a.m. Regional Championship game at Guilford against DeKalb.
