Lutheran sprinter Courtney Sockwell took care of business in the girls State Track Meet down in Charleston.
Sockwell succeeded in her quest for back-to-back state titles in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in Class 1A. The senior Crusader won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.95 seconds, and the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 25.33 seconds.
Keith Country Day’s Paige Yoder won the long jump state title in Class 1A with a jump of 18-01.
In Class 2A Boylan’s Grace McLaughlin ended her senior year the right way. She won state titles in both the 3200-meter run and 1600-meter run after finishing second and fifth respectively last year. Right behind McLaughlin in the 1600-meter was her teammate Delaney Appino who placed second.
In Class 3A Belvidere North’s relay team anchored by senior and University of Missouri-bound Jenna Lutzow won the state title in the 4-by-800 meter race.
