Orangeville’s softball team has just missed out on an elusive trip to the State Tournament. The Broncos lost in 1A Super-Sectional action Wednesday 4-2 to Illini Bluffs.
Illini Bluffs struck for three runs in the first inning forcing the Broncos to try to comeback. They couldn’t quite string together the hits to get it done.
The game had originally been scheduled to be played Monday morning in Sterling, but it was postponed to Tuesday by rain. More rain Tuesday washed it out again and it was rescheduled for Wednesday and moved to Peoria to take advantage of a drier field. Peoria is also where the State Tournament will be played.
