Rockford Coop Wins Golf Regional

The Rockford Coop girls golf team is one step closer to the State Tournament. The girls won the 2A Freeport Regional Wednesday.

Wearing their pink shirts the Rockford girls posted a team score of 320 at Freeport’s Park Hills to win by 53 strokes over runner-up Boylan (373. Woodstock Marian took third place (377).

East senior Madasyn Pettersen led Rockford with a 74. Guilford’s Katelyn Sayyalinh was right behind with a 75. Kristen Sayyalinh shot a 79 and Caitlin Waddell a 92 to round out the top four golfers for Rockford.

Alli Erdmier shot an 87 to lead the Titans to their second place finish. Freeport’s Maxine Nesemeier was the medalist with a 72.

Rockford and Boylan advance to the 2A Barrington Sectional next Monday.

Also Wednesday Lutheran won the 1A Elgin Academy Regional.  Stillman Valley won the 1A Oregon Regional.  Junior Natalie Hoper led Lutheran’s championship with a 78.
