The third annual 205 Tip-Off Classic will expand to feature teams from four different states this year.
Hosted by the Rockford Public Schools, the event will be held Nov. 21, 22, 23, 25 and 26 at four different RPS sites. Six out-of-state teams will visit this year – Indianapolis Pike from Indiana, Madison West, Parker, La Follette and Milwaukee Bay View from Wisconsin, and McArthur High School from Hollywood, Fla.
Pike will make its third trip to the event, while Parker and La Follette each return for their second year. New to the field from Wisconsin are competitive programs from Madison West and Milwaukee Bay View. Each school from Wisconsin and Indiana will play two games apiece.
McArthur will be the first non-Midwest team to compete in the Classic. The Mustangs reached the Florida High School Athletic Association 8A Regional finals the past four years. McArthur’s team will travel to Rockford to play four games Nov. 21-23.
The 2016 Tip-Off Classic also expanded locally, as six local teams will now be competing in the event. Those teams will be released on Wednesday, and the full schedule will follow on Thursday.
