68-Year Old BMX Racer Hits the Midwest Nationals

Rockford is the host of the 2016 BMX Midwest Nationals all weekend over at Searls Park. More than 15-hundred pro and amateur racers are competing for national rankings. Racers from all ages are participating. The youngest biker is just two years old. But the most impressive racer is Kittie Weston-Knauer. She’s the oldest BMX racer in the nation. She turned 68 years old on Friday, but didn’t let the fog and humidity slow her down.

“I tell you what at my age you won’t let anything slow you down,” says Weston-Knauer. “I truly love this sport. Yes it’s hot. Yes, it’s humid. But the idea is you’re going to get out here and you’re going to give it your best, you’re going to give it your all. Being the oldest female in the nation who races in the BMX I don’t ever let that get into the way.”

Weston-Knaur came all the way from Iowa, and has been racing for 26 years.
