The Fighting Ilini’s preseason camp is going strong. Former Auburn Knight Vederian Lowe is one of the guys in orange and blue working hard.
Lowe started seven games last season at offensive tackle. He was one of four freshmen who started games on the offensive line. Logic says they’ll all be better with a year of experience under their belts. Lowe believes that to be the case.
“I feel like we’re really advanced. I feel like a lot of us came a long way,” says Lowe. “I didn’t participate in fall camp last year because I was hurt. Even throughout the season and in spring ball I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better. I’ve got a better understanding of college football and even my fellow linemen Alex (Palczewski) and Doug (Kramer). We’ve got Nickie (Nick Allegretti) anchroing the line with seniority so everything is going to come together.”
Lowe and the Illini will open their season September 1 with a home game against Kent State.
