Auburn’s Nevenhoven places second at state in girls tennis

Sports

Auburn High School junior tennis player Belen Nevehoven didn’t quite come out with the outcome she wanted on Saturday, but she made history nonetheless competing in the IHSA Class 2A state finals in Buffalo Grove. She finished second in the singles final when she fell to Lake Forest High School’s Kiley Rabjohns 7-5, 6-2. Her second place finish is the highest for any high school girls tennis player from Rockford.

Nevenhoven finished in fourth place last year. Her cousin Ana Hatfield took fifth place in Class 1A in 2016.
