With Michael Bilderback racing only part-time this year at the Rockford Speedway the Late Model division could be wide open.
One race who should be in the thick of things is Matt Berger of Loves Park. He drives the Fox 39/Windsor Auto Sales car. Berger finished second behind Bilderback in the points race last season. He had two feature wins.
Beger is sstill looking for his first feature win this year now three weeks in. He currently sits in fifth place in points. This veteran has done it all in his career. He has won feature races in all four major divisions at the track. He says the adrenalin rush of racing never goes away.
“I come out here and I don’t get as nervous as I used to beforehand, but you get that helmet on and it’s on!,” says Berger. “You just get after it and you don’t worry about any of it. I think as long as you’ve got that desire to go win a race..I’ve still got that so we’ll be alright.”
“We’ve changed a few things this year. We’ve changed pretty much the whole drive train after the rules changes this year so we’re kind of working with that a little bit. We’ve been a little bit behind from everybody else but I think we’ll get it figured out.”
